"Communism is a political structure, but it is also an economic system. A communist economy is owned by the state, which controls business, industries, and farms. ideally, profits from the production of goods are to be shared equally among the people. communism is the opposite of capitalism. in a capitalist economy, individuals own property, business, and farms, and profit belong to individual owners." (source D page 100) Communism is all based on equality with everything. The idea is for there to be no rich and no poor, however it really doesn't ever work out that way. The idea is that factories, farms, etc. would be owned by the people equally. They would all work to keep the business going and they would all benefit equally from production and money earned. THESE CITATIONS SHOULD LOOK LIKE THIS: (VANDER HOOK 100) I'M ASSUMING THIS IS FROM THE BOOK BECAUSE THAT'S YOUR FOURTH SOURCE. WHEN YOU USE A BOOK SOURCE, YOU SHOULD ALWAYS HAVE THE AUTHOR'S LAST NAME AND THE PAGE NUMBER. I KNOW I HAD YOU GUYS ASSIGN A LETTER TO EACH SOURCE, BUT THAT WAS JUST TO HELP YOU KEEP THEM STRAIGHT IN THE NOTES.
" This is not the economic system instituted by the autocratic communist rulers throughout the history of communism. What dictators have instituted in the Soviet Union, China, North Korea, Cuba, Laos, and Vietnam is called nationalization- a takeover of private property and industry to make it government owned and controlled." (source D page 102) Communism in itself is a good idea but these dictators who take control of the economics take control of the government and that's why communism does not work.
